Sorry for the "uncreative" title. It's actually my screenname (my name spelled backwards, then my favorite number, 18, backwards).
As far as coming up with a topic for this blog, I've spent a lot of time thinking about what I want to learn more about and I've had a surprisingly difficult time. This is, of course, because there are so many topics that I care about and want to learn about, not the other way around. If you look at my Google Reader, you'll see that I'm checking out a pretty wide variety of information, from teaching writing to English as a Second Language Students, to Teaching Tolerance: an online magazing that focuses on teaching diversity and addressing issues related to tolerance in the classroom. I'm most interested in seeing how I can make reading and writing a passion for my students, particularly those who struggle with it. As a student, I have never had a hard time working through the writing process or learning how to avoid grammatical mistakes. I hope that this class gives me some ideas!
Expect this first entry to change as I find a more specific topic for my blog.

Crista,
Looks like you have a good start here. I'm curious why you opted for Blogger rather than Wordpress, since Wordpress is a little easier to use, in my opinion. You might discover this as you add your class blogroll. I believe Blogger still makes you enter the code by hand.
You've identified a number of topics: now you might choose one and find some meaningful feeds. Teaching tolerance through writing is a potentially fruitful topic, and will connect very well to our later discussion of critical pedagogy.
Good luck.
